StreetSide to build on success of townhome projects with two new launches

- BY JODIE WARREN

With the townhome market continuing to be red hot, it is not surprising that communities such as those being offered by StreetSide Developments, a Qualico company, are selling out quickly.

StreetSide’s Maple Heights and Everly Green communities are reflective of this continued demand for townhouse properties in the region. In the case of Maple Heights, a master-planned community of three-bedroom townhomes with side-by-side and tandem garages, buyers were drawn to the natural surroundings of the development, near Kanaka Creek Regional Park, and to the fact that at the time that it was built, it was the only masterplanned community of its kind in Maple Ridge. Featuring interconnecting pathways or boardwalks in a lush natural setting and a beautiful clubhouse amenity, the community received a Georgie Award nomination for its fifth phase.

Similarly, buyers clamoured for an opportunity to purchase in Everly Green, a unique townhome community that featured a mixture of traditional attached and as well as detached two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom strata homes in Langley. “At the time, there were very few communities with this type of product on the market,” explains Vanessa Isler, the company’s director of sales and marketing. Everly Green received Georgie nominations in the categories of Best Project Identity, Best Advertising Campaign, Best Sales Centre, Best Corporate/Project Website, and the Grand Georgie for Marketing Campaign of the Year.

Qualico, one of the largest privately owned real estate companies in Western Canada, was founded in the 1950s by David Friesen, a lawyer, and his wife, Katherine Friesen, a teacher. The two got their start building single-family homes in Winnipeg. With 42 offices, the company delivers more than 3,500 homes a year to the region. “There is a lot of security that comes from knowing that you are purchasing from a company that isn’t going anywhere,” says Isler.

The company is now preparing to launch two new projects in the spring of 2018. Canopy is a master-planned townhome community consisting of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes that will be located beside Tynehead Regional Park in Surrey. The project will offer homeowners a once-in-a-lifetime location, neighbouring a 642-acre park.

“The community will connect directly into the park,” says Isler, noting the tagline for the project is apt: “Nobody’s backyard is bigger.”

Featuring Craftsman-inspired architecture by Robert Ciccozzi Architecture, Canopy, like Everly Green and Maple Heights, will feature an abundance of natural space, with easy access to the walking and biking trails at Tynehead through connecting pathways.

StreetSide is working on Forte, an offering of 34 luxury homes in the Burnaby Heights neighbourhood at Hastings Street and Willing don. These one -, one-bedroom-and-den, two and two-bedroom-and-den homes will offer spacious layouts and high-end kitchen appliances with a European feel. Residents will be able to enjoy the views of the North Shore mountains from the shared rooftop deck
