Bentley Bentayga plug-in hybrid bound for Geneva
Bentley is expanding the Bentayga lineup with a plug-in hybrid option.
According to Automotive News, the plug-in Bentayga is set to debut this March at the Geneva International Motor Show. A first for Bentley, its powertrain will likely be based on the Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, which is to say a twin-turbocharged 2.9-litre V-6 paired with an electric motor. In the Panamera, this setup produces 462 horsepower and about 48 kilometres of electric-only range.
The Bentayga plug-in hybrid is expected to go on sale as a 2019 model in the second half of this year, starting at around $200,000.
Following the Bentayga, look for an electrified Continental GT, as well as a purely electric Bentley at some point.
This year’s Geneva motor show kicks off March 6. We’ll have more details then on the Bentayga plugin hybrid.
