Miracon Development Inc. was launched just four and a half years ago, but the company made a big impact at the 2018 Georgie Awards, winning Single Family Production Home Builder of the Year. They also garnered a win for Best Single Family Detached Home over 2,300 Square Feet for their Westside - Signature model. In addition, one of their Southside home plans was awarded a finalist position.

Winning Single Family Home Builder of the Year for 2018 prompted Ryan O’Shea, vicepresident of marketing and sales, to remark: “It was incredible to get such recognition from the Georgie selection committee and

our industry peers. You can’t get any bigger than the Georgies, so the entire evening was thrilling – and a great honour.”

Miracon has a simple philosophy that has taken considerable effort to achieve. “We’re a production builder, but we constantly strive to think as a custom builder, providing finishes and other elements that are unique to the production category,” says O’Shea.

The Miracon team does this by seeing things through the eyes of prospective buyers, understanding their expectations and ensuring that these expectations are met. That’s why on any given job site, a building envelope engineer and a finishing supervisor can be found presiding over the construction process and checking for deficiencies.

To date, Miracon has lent its expertise to two distinct markets. It first entered the multi-family residential market with a splash with the award-winning Prima community: 28 master-on-the-main townhomes in South Surrey. The West Coast architecture and abundance of green space proved very popular. “We then moved to the single-family market with three consecutive developments: Westside, Southside and Southcrest, all located within a new South Surrey community,” says O’Shea.

The 53-home Westside project is already sold out, and hot on its heels are sales for the 50-home Southside development, located close to Morgan Crossing, Grandview Corners and the new Grandview Heights Aquatic Centre.

As for Southcrest, the 31 homes are perched on a gentle southwestern slope with views of Semiahmoo Bay and Mount Baker. Each home is designed to maximize light and comfort, with oversized windows, soaring 10-foot ceilings and open-concept layouts. Some master bedrooms have vaulted ceilings and all have dual walk-in closets, as well as an ensuite with a free-standing soaker tub and glass-enclosed shower.

Miracon’s versatility can be attributed in part to being a young company, one in which a culture of ‘working together for the betterment of all’ is actively encouraged. “What this does is generate mentorship,” says O’Shea. “Our strategy is to develop our own team from within, and we send staff to school or to be certified in order to develop a pool of experienced carpenters, foremen and supervisors. Not only does this strategy engender loyalty, it helps us maintain our quality and service, which is key to our success.”
