PLAYERS TO WATCH IN 2018

-

While the field for this

year’s season-opening event at the picturesque and challenging Point Grey Golf & Country Club has yet to be set, some players likely to appear and worth keeping an eye on both in Vancouver and throughout the year.

HUNTER STEWART

The SEC Player of the Year during his final year at Vanderbilt University, Stewart finished tied for second at last year’s tournament, firing a final round 65 before adding four more top five finishes. Stewart started in 12 Mackenzie Tour events in 2017, finishing 12th on the order of merit and is certainly one to watch heading into the 2018 season.

RYAN WILLIAMS

The Mackenzie Tour veteran gets to kick off his year on his home course and with more than a dozen top 10 finishes over his career, Williams is one of the more seasoned players on tour. After a rough year in 2017, the 36-year-old will be looking to kick off a strong comeback campaign at the end of the month.

CODY BLICK

The San Jose State University product missed the cut at last year’s Freedom 55 Financial Open, but closed out the B.C. Swing with a T3 result on the island and a T2 at the Golf BC Championship. A West Coast guy getting his first tour victory on the West Coast isn’t out of the question and a move up the order of merit after finishing 13th last year seems likely.

JARED DU TOIT

The Kimberley, B.C., resident rocketed onto the scene in 2016, playing alongside Brandt Snedeker in the final pairing at the 2016 RBC Canadian Open before finishing T9 as an amateur. He had a trio of top 10 finishes on the Mackenzie Tour last year and is certainly someone to keep an eye on as the season kicks off in Vancouver.
