Sprinter Brown posts personal best in 200m

-

Canadian sprinter Aaron Brown raced to a personal-best time of 19.98 seconds in the men’s 200 metres Thursday at a stop on the Diamond League track and field circuit. The Toronto native, whose previous best result was 20 seconds even at a 2016 race in Baton Rouge, La., became just the third Canadian to break the 20-second mark. He also became the second Canadian to complete the rare career feat of breaking 10 seconds in a 100-metre race and running a sub-20-second 200, joining Andre De Grasse. Brown, from Toronto, finished second in Thursday’s race behind Turkey’s Ramil Guluyev (19.90). Later, Sage Watson of Medicine Hat, Alta., finished third in the women’s 400m hurdles in a personal-best time of 54.55 seconds.
