The Greater Vancouver Home Builders Association is set to host the 25th annual Parade of Homes Sunday, with doors opening to 14 residences throughout Metro Vancouver.

The Parade of Homes, which is sponsored by Fortis BC and runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., gives participants a chance to check out new design trends, to speak to builders, renovators and designers, and to learn about the science and craftsmanship behind the homes, says a release from the GVHBA.

“Renovation and custom home building is as much a science today as it is about craftsmanship and design,” association CEO Bob de Wit says.

“All the comfort and beauty we have come to expect from our homes is supported by building science, and years of craftsmanship… Our parade is as educational as it is inspirational, and I am confident homeowners will be wowed by the state-of-the-art design finishing, but also by what is behind the walls.”

Among the homes is a residence that is Built Green Platinum and Energy Star certified with a coach house, and a residence built with an organic European tongue-andgroove engineered laminated wood system.

Also included are two projects in progress in Burnaby and West Vancouver, “providing a unique opportunity to investigate the science behind the home, and to also learn about the renovation process,” notes the release.

Participation in the parade is free, but the association is encouraging donations for the purchase of tools, building materials and safety gear for a carpentry training program at Guildford Park and Frank Hurt secondary schools in Surrey.
