LEZÉ’s goal is comfortable pants you can live in

- ALEESHA HARRIS

If you’ve ever looked inside your closet and thought, “ugh, I have nothing to wear that makes me feel good!” then LEZÉ the Label may be the new label for you.

The Vancouver-based company focuses on creating a curated collection of trousers and pants that can be worn by every body shape for virtually any day, time or purpose. Plus, it has a pretty cool eco-conscious and ethical angle, too.

We caught up with Karen Lee, a co-founder of the brand, to chat about their comfortable clothing creations, what makes their pants different and what’s next.

Q For those who aren’t familiar, what is LEZÉ the Label?

A LEZÉ is a versatile brand that designs workwear made out of recycled plastic and coffee, with a focus on comfort and function.

Q When and why did you start the brand?

A Tanya and I launched our first Kickstarter in November 2017 because of a phone call Tanya made to me after being inspired by my homeless chic — without the chic — style. Before this, we both experienced the feeling of “not good enough” in the workplace; to mask our own self-doubt, we dressed the part in expensive and uncomfortable workwear. So, inspired by our burning desire to wear pyjamas to work, we decided to create a functional and fashionable pair of pants beyond one purpose. This has elevated into our current goal to help today’s modern working women find freedom in what they wear, while creating pieces that embody all types of lifestyles.

Q What makes it different from other clothing offerings?

A We use 100 per cent sustainable materials, like recycled plastic, coffee and bamboo. We focus on work-leisure with comfort parallel to PJs with highly functioning features like antiwrinkle, moisture-wicking, antiodour and anti-gaping buttons. Our pants are designed with real women in mind.

Q Who is the target customer?

A Women who work, including startup entrepreneurs and busy moms.

Q You feature models of all shapes and sizes on your website. Why is this important to you?

A Because women are made up of many different and beautiful shapes and sizes. We cannot and should not be restricted to one archetype; this goes the same for clothing. One of the greatest pain points in our market research was that most pants have an incorrect fit: they are either too long or short, or if the waist fits, the hips do not. We want women to go on our website and say, “Hey, that looks like me!” knowing our clothing is tested for real life.

Q What is the price range for your products?

A It ranges from $35 to $110 (USD).

Q Where can people check them out?

A Online at Lezethelabel.com. Aharris@postmedia.com
