Bacchus celebrates 35 years

- Mia Stainsby

Eleni Skalbania opened The Wedgewood 35 years ago and now her daughter Elpie Marinakis, co-owner and managing director, runs it with the flair and grace of her late mother.

“Bacchus is one of the city’s most enduring restaurants. The room has Old World charm with contemporary touches, making it an escape from the everyday,” Marinakis says. To celebrate its 35th year, they tour memory lane with a three-course anniversary tasting menu ($79) with some classic dishes alongside the new fall menu. The anniversary menu is available for the month of November. The classics are the wedge salad, duck a l’orange two ways, and inverted lemon tart. Chef Montgomery Lau’s fall dishes include lobster and scallop mousseline terrine, slow-roasted half rack of lamb, and squash risotto with mascarpone.
