Yuletide pie and cheese

- ANTHONY GISMONDI

At Les Amis du Fromage they are big on holiday traditions, beginning with their delicious holiday tourtiere. It’s made only once or twice during the holiday season, so pick one up before they’re gone. It is available in two sizes: the small is $12.50 and the large sells for $38.50.

It also wouldn’t be Christmas without their Port Soaked Stilton — that’s whole wheels of English Stilton soaked in Taylor’s LBV port for six weeks. They go on sale Dec. 2.

Finally, there is the incomparable Vacherin Mont d’Or, a soft Swiss cheese produced and ripened among the dark forests and rich pastures of the Jura mountains in the canton of Vaud. It is seasonal, so there is only a small window when it is available in Vancouver. Expected arrival is around Dec. 10-15.

Les Amis du Fromage has two Vancouver locations: 1752 West 2nd Ave. and 843 East Hastings St. More info at buycheese.com
