Jacqueline Dawn Nelson, of New Westminste­r, BC, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2020. She was predecease­d by her loving husband of 60 years, Dr. Rodger Nelson.

Dawn was born April 30, 1933 in Nelson, BC to Myraid and Frances "Jack" Miller. She attended the University of British Columbia, and then entered the nursing program at Vancouver General Hospital to receive her RN. While at UBC, Dawn met Rodger and they married on August 31, 1955. The newlyweds settled in New Westminste­r where they raised their family and Rodger set up a thriving medical practice.

After the birth of their six children, Dawn returned to UBC to obtain a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Highlights of her career as a public health nurse included working at the Jericho School for the Deaf, setting up the student health services program at Vancouver Vocational Institute, and a variety of positions in home health. She retired in 1991 and enjoyed socializin­g, the written and performing arts, wine touring, and spending time with her many grandchild­ren.

Dawn is survived by her children Karin (David), Janet (Joe), David (Gail), Lisa (Robert), Barbara (David) and Linda (Patrick). She is also survived by her 12 grandchild­ren Laura, Jack, Alexandra (Andrew), Michael, Ryan, Sarah, Katherine, Alison, Christophe­r, Stephanie, Jeff and Andrew, and 2 great-grandchild­ren, Elizabeth and Aubrey. No service at her request. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice is gratefully accepted.
