(née Fumano) August 25, 1934 - May 17, 2020

Sadly, we say goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, in-law, neighbour and friend, after a life well lived and sincerely loved.

Bev was born in 1934 in Saskatoon, before the Fumano family moved to Vancouver in 1944. Almost all of Bev’s life was spent in Kitsilano, where she and her siblings attended Kits High School, as did other family members including her own children, Lisa and Paul, who she raised in the neighbourhood. Bev was a fixture on West Broadway for decades, from childhood days at Peter’s Ice Cream where her mother worked for many years, to teenage nights at the Alma Dancehall, through to her eighties, when she walked up and down Broadway almost daily, visiting merchants, cafes, and her hair salon, greeting many familiar and friendly faces along the way. Bev will always be remembered as unfailingly positive and almost impossibly warm. She was universally loved by dogs and children, and pretty much everyone else too.

Bev was predeceased by her parents Leo and Constance. She is survived by siblings Donna Eddy (Bruce, deceased), Leo (Lien), Gary (Teresa), Dianne Leverman (Bob), and her children, Lisa Walter (Brent) and Paul, to whom she was always a devoted mother.

Over the years, Bev showered rare generosity and special love upon her many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was a loving grandmother to her four grandchildren, and was especially close to Lisa’s daughter Victoria, with whom she shared a middle name and a love of art and reading.

A special thanks to Bev’s caregivers, especially Kimmy, and Lisa who looked after her mother through her final months.

In lieu of flowers, please spare some kind thoughts and deeds to help someone having a hard day, and think of Bev when you do it. No service at this time, but a family memorial will be held later in the year. "Sleep softly dear friend, for while I live, you shall not die."
