NEILSON, Christian
Sep. 1, 1967 - May 27, 2020
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Christian (Chris) Neilson, our son, brother, uncle, nephew, and cousin. He is predeceased by his father Art, and survived by his mother Sandra, brother Michael (wife Michelle), and niece Emma, as well as his loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Everyone has many memories of Chris at gatherings on both sides of the family that they will always carry with them. Chris was born to Art and Sandy in Burnaby on September 1, 1967, and was joined by a brother when they adopted Michael. Chris was a sensitive and insightful young person, and then developed a thicker veneer as a teenager. Chris was a musician and appreciated many genres, but his passion was metal. He became a talented guitar and bass player, still playing with friends to this day. Chris's close friends provided a lot of support to him and we thank them for the role and the power cords that they played. Chris worked for years with Art in the family plumbing and heating business. When his dad retired, he continued to be a diligent plumber who was highly regarded, his last project being the upgrade of VGH. He took his work, as most things, seriously but also had a dark sense of humour which we will sorely miss.
Chris would not want us to be overly sentimental, even at this difficult time. However, this is an opportunity to say that we loved him more than he knew. A memorial will be held when restrictions are lifted. If you would like to make a donation in Chris's honour, please do so at the Sarah Mclachlan School of Music to make music lessons available to disadvantaged youth.
