-

Feb. 25, 1927 - Jun. 4, 2020 Nesbitt - Dollena (Dolly) Joan. Dolly passed away peacefully on June 4, 2020. She was born in Vancouver on February 25, 1927 to Roderick and Mary Macdonald. Dolly is survived by her children Colleen, David (Alaide Bremm), Joan, James (Rich Kraft), and Jill (Michel Lapointe), grandsons Logan (Rachel) and Kieran, granddaughters Julia and Sophia, great grandson Burrell, sister Marion Macaulay, brother-in-law Roy Ruscheinsky and many relatives and friends. Dolly was predeceased by husband Burrell and siblings Jane, Christina and Hector.

Dolly was a loving wife, wonderful mother and grandmother, admired sister and aunt, and loyal friend. Her humble character, personal integrity and practical spirit were the foundation for genuine qualities that were always unconditional: kindness, generosity, encouragement, fairness and laughter. The United Church was an important part of Dolly's life, reflecting her concern for the disadvantaged and the power of faith to comfort and inspire.

Both Dolly and Burrell had life-long appreciation for learning and discovery; after raising five children, Dolly returned to school and graduated from UBC in 1988 with a degree in International Relations, an achievement aided by her voracious love of reading.

Music was another source of satisfaction and solace. Dolly would sing The Skye Boat Song, a beloved Scottish standard, to her young children and grandchildren when soothing words were needed. The first verse's description of a journey is especially fitting as we celebrate her life and her spirit.
