ROUTLEDGE, John Alexander

-

1944 - 2020

John Routledge, after living a full life, passed away on June 10, 2020 at the age of 75. He was born on July 16, 1944 in North Battleford, SK, the son of Pat (Hank) and May Routledge.

He will be missed by his wife of 48 years, Barbara and their children, Kirsten (Travis) and their children Aidan and Zoe; Leah (Gordon) and her children Kaitlin and Alexander; Iain (Angie) and their children Brenin, Christine and Kayla; brother Cam; sister in law Rae; brother in law John (Korina); and nieces and nephew Angela (Lyn), Tracy, Anande, Ana and Hayden.

John grew up in North Vancouver, graduated from UBC with a Bachelor of Commerce and spent 31 years at B.C. Tel as an Economist. After retirement, he moved to Protection Island and lastly to Saskatoon where he and Barbara escaped the cold winters in Honolulu.

John found joy in the simple things in life like a comfy chair, a glass of scotch and the sun setting over the Gabriola Cliffs. He could accomplish anything he set his mind to. Whether it was building a go-kart, a fence, or a house, making award winning wine, taking stunning travel photographs or preparing tableside crepes suzette, he took great pride in his craftsmanship. He valued education, good music and world travel. John spent many hours exploring the streets and culture wherever he travelled but his happiest times were shared around the dinner table with family and friends.

He will be greatly missed and always remembered.

Sincere thanks to everyone who cared for John throughout, including the wonderfully kind staff at Sherbrooke Community Centre. A Celebration of Life will be held in Vancouver at a later date with details to follow. Condolences may be left at www.saskatoonfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are entrusted to SASKATOON FUNERAL HOME (306) 244-5577
