MACKAY, John Fraser Fenwick

-

July 8, 1959 - June 14, 2020

The family of Fraser Mackay is heartbroken to announce his sudden passing, at the age of 60, on June 14, 2020.

Survived and forever loved by cherished wife Susan, children Emily, Nicholas (Alicia) and Anna (Colin), and Susan's mother Margaret. Predeceased by parents John and Evlyn, and Susan's father Nick, Fraser leaves brother Ian (Lisa), sisters Heather (John) and Shona (Darrell), nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends too numerous to mention, all bereft by his loss.

Words cannot do justice to Fraser's impact on the lives of those lucky enough to know him. Lifelong friendships were nurtured during idyllic summers at Savary, on the courts of the tennis club, and at St. George's and UBC, where he met the love of his life, Susan. He pursued her with the same vigor he applied to everything he did - with determination, passion and a full heart. They made a formidable pair, true partners in love and in life.

Fraser was well respected in business as a highly successful entrepreneur and business owner. He loved what he did and was good at it, but even more, he was a trusted advisor and mentor to many, who were fortunate enough to learn from his extensive experience and wise counsel. He had time for everyone, and was generous to all.

It's safe to say that nothing made Fraser happier than his family. Watching Emily, Nicholas and Anna grow into fine adults, each successful in their fields, was a source of great pride for him and for Susan. As the family grew, adding Alicia and Colin into the mix, there were happy holidays, sunny summers and ordinary days of simple joys.

Fraser was curious and always up for fun. He loved boating on the Mac 5, anything chocolate, enjoying fine wines and new restaurants, and a cold G&T at the Perch, with the Eagles playing in the background. He loved his solo dinners with Emily, hikes with Anna, tennis with Nicholas and golf with his buddies - even recently shooting a 79, his best round ever. Over the last few years, he and Susan traveled, enjoyed their new home in town and their getaways to Pender, and made wonderful and lasting memories with so many close, special friends.

Last summer, celebrating his 60th birthday surrounded by his beloved family and dearest friends, Fraser was the picture of contentment. People came from far and away to be there, because he was that guy. A man of impeccable character and integrity, he had a wicked sense of humour and a true impish streak. Kind, thoughtful, loyal and true. He was one of a kind, and will be forever missed.
