DEGLAN (NEE NEUMANN), Elinor

September 18, 1932 - January 2, 2021

-

It is with great sadness we announce that our beloved wife, mother & Nana, passed away on Jan. 2, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Elinor was born in Winnipeg & then moved to Burnaby with her family. She graduated from Burnaby South in 1949 & met the love of her life, Alf, that same year. They were married in 1953 & spent the next 67 yrs together. They raised their 4 children in the log house that Alf built in Langley. Elinor always welcomed family & friends into their homes with open arms. Elinor loved to cook, square & round dance, but most of all, she loved spending time with family. She taught us the true meaning of kindness & love which she shared with everyone she encountered. Anyone who knew Nana knew she made the world a better place & we will all cherish our memories with her. Elinor leaves behind her devoted husband Alf & will be lovingly remembered by children, Alf Jr. (Penny), Dorie (Glenn), Wendy (Larry) & Lisa. Nana was an inspiration to all of her favourite grandchildren, Jason, Stephanie (Jamie), Cheryl (Jamie), Ryan (Alyssa), Alfy (Dayna), Melissa, Darnell & Amy. Nana always had a piece of chocolate waiting for her great grandchildren, Kaydence, Madison, Turner, Linden, Miller, Dylan, Alfred, Fynley, Charlotte & Tessa. She especially looked forward to her evening phone call from Maddy. Elinor leaves behind her sister Edie (Les) & brother Chuck & many special cousins, nieces, nephews & friends across Canada & Germany. Elinor was predeceased by her parents, her brother Albert Neumann & her son-in-law Glenn Candy. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family would like to thank Dorie for taking such good care of Mom over the last year. At this time there won't be a service, but we look forward to celebrating Elinor's life in brighter days. In lieu of flowers, please have a toast of fireball and share a memory in Elinor's name! See ya later alligator - we love you!
