Nylander may be suffering migraines

-

There could be a good reason behind William Nylander's unexplained absence from the Toronto Maple Leafs.

On Thursday, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported multiple sources indicate Nylander is suffering from a painful migraine condition that prompted team doctors to assess the 98-point winger for a concussion.

Nylander has not played in the first three games of the Boston series.

It wouldn't be Nylander's first issue with headaches. In September 2022, he told media he had switched to a tinted visor due to migraines the previous season.

and the NHL have reached an exclusive agreement with Amazon's Prime Video to carry Monday regular-season games in Canada for the next two seasons.

Rogers and the league said in a joint statement Thursday that Prime Monday Night Hockey will stream all national regular season Monday night NHL games in English for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 NHL seasons.

It marks the NHL's first exclusive broadcast deal with a digital-only streaming service in Canada.

The package will include a new broadcast team providing analysis and playby-play.

The NHL's US$5.2-billion, 12-year broadcasting agreement with Rogers is set to expire after the 202526 season.

Meanwhile, the Seattle Kraken will move their games to an over-the-air broadcaster and have a streaming partnership with Prime Video beginning with the 2024-25 season, the team announced.

The Kraken are the first NHL team to have a streaming deal with Prime Video for all non-nationally televised games and will be available to Amazon Prime members in Washington, Oregon and Alaska.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has a minority stake in the ownership group of the Kraken.

Seattle will partner with TENGA for the over-theair component, with most of the broadcasts airing on KONG-TV in Seattle.

The 23-year-old Canadian improved his career record to 3-2 over the 79thranked Nishioka.

Auger-Aliassime will face 19th-seeded Adrian Mannarino of France in the second round.

Leadoff-hitting Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday because of a right oblique strain.

The move came a day after Crawford was a late scratch from Seattle's lineup before their 5-1 loss at Texas. He felt his oblique tweak during batting practice.
