A tough week for the Ro­ck­land Na­tio­nals

The Ro­ck­land Na­tio­nals Ju­nior A team re­cor­ded a tough week– lo­sing all three of their games last week.

The Nats fell to the Ot­ta­wa Ju­nior Se­na­tors on Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 25 du­ring an away game, lo­sing 5-4. Drew Shields, Ma­thieu Blan­chette, Cole La­voie and Tre­vor Coy­ken­dall each pi­cked up a goal du­ring the match. Coy­ken­dall was the on­ly Nats player to earn a star, na­med se­cond star of the game for his one goal and one as­sist.

Things took ano­ther turn for the worst when the Nats were de­fea­ted in what was a shu­tout win for the Haw­kes­bu­ry Hawks. The Hawks de­fea­ted the Nats 6-0 on Sa­tur­day, Oc­to­ber 28. Nats goal­ten­der Sean Storr was pu­shed to the li­mit, re­cei­ving 47 shots on nets and stop­ping 41 of them. The Nats took L’équipe des Na­tio­nals Ju­nior A de Ro­ck­land a connu une se­maine dif­fi­cile, per­dant ses trois matchs la se­maine der­nière. L’équipe ter­mi­ne­ra la se­maine contre les Bears de Smiths Falls, le di­manche 5 no­vembre. 34 shots at Hawks goa­lie Mat­thew Pe­ti­zian but were un­suc­cess­ful, gi­ving Pe­ti­zian a per­fect match.

The Nats lost 2-1 to the Na­van Grads the next day, on Sun­day Oc­to­ber 29, in what was a more even­ly mat­ched game. Ma­thieu Blan­chette sco­red the sole goal for the Ro­ck­land Nats, ear­ning him the third star of the game. Cap­tain Za­cha­ry Sal­loum and Seth Car­ter of the Grads re­cei­ved the se­cond and first star of the game, res­pec­ti­ve­ly.

The three conse­cu­tive losses leave the Nats re­cord at (11-9-1-1). Will the Nats be able to turn things around? The team hits the ice again on Thurs­day, No­vem­ber 2, against the Corn­wall Colts, and will play at home against the Car­le­ton Place Ca­na­dians the fol­lo­wing day. The team will end the week against the Smiths Falls Bears on Sun­day, No­vem­ber 5.
