Cellist Matt Haimovitz launches Chamber Music Society’s fall season

Celebrated Canadian cellist Matt Haimovitz will perform Sept. 14, 8 p.m. at the K-W Chamber Music Society’s intimate space at 57 Young St. W., Waterloo. This fall season launch will feature Haimovitz, a professor of cello at McGill University performing an ambitious program of all six of the Preludes to Bach’s “Suites for Unaccompan­ied Cello” coupled with new overtures to Bach. The contempora­ry pieces were commission­ed from composers such as Philip Glass, Du Yun, Vijay Iyer, Roberto Sierra, David Sanford and Luna Pearl Woolf.
