Cellist Matt Haimovitz launches Chamber Music Society’s fall season
Celebrated Canadian cellist Matt Haimovitz will perform Sept. 14, 8 p.m. at the K-W Chamber Music Society’s intimate space at 57 Young St. W., Waterloo. This fall season launch will feature Haimovitz, a professor of cello at McGill University performing an ambitious program of all six of the Preludes to Bach’s “Suites for Unaccompanied Cello” coupled with new overtures to Bach. The contemporary pieces were commissioned from composers such as Philip Glass, Du Yun, Vijay Iyer, Roberto Sierra, David Sanford and Luna Pearl Woolf.
