Rodrigues named deputy minister of education
Bruce Rodrigues, a former teacher and principal in Waterloo Region’s Catholic schools, has been appointed deputy minister of education for the Ontario government.
Rodrigues started out as a teacher in the mid-1980s at Waterloo and Cambridge Catholic high schools. He moved through the ranks to principal, superintendent and associate director.
In 2011 he became the chief executive officer for the Education Quality and Accountability Office.
“His understanding of current educational challenges and his gifts as a leader, equip him well to provide strong leadership to the province’s education system,” said Loretta Notten, the Waterloo Catholic board’s director of education.
