Fall season enhanced by chamber music

The Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber Music Society has a music-filled schedule coming up for the next four weeks, starting with an Oct. 30 concert featuring the HMM Trio playing Dvorak’s “Dumky” trio, Ravel’s “Trio in A” and Marjan Mozetich’s “Scales of Joy and Sorrow.” On Nov. 4, they feature the Toronto Serenade Quartet with pianist Su Jeon, performing rarely heard but beautiful quintets by Alexis Castillon and Arnold Bax. On Nov. 9, it’s Duo Concertant­e a violin/piano duo from Newfoundla­nd, performing Haydn’s “Sonata in G,” Dallapicco­la’s “Tartiniana Seconda,” Brahms’ “Sonata no. 2 in A” and Franck’s “Sonata 6.” On Nov. 13, the lively Duo Cavatina from Spain and Bosnia play flute and guitar with a big program of Bach, Takemitsu, Sor, Piazzolla and Thomas. Nov. 18, Boston pianist Michael Lewin performs an eclectic program of Beethoven, Ginastera, Lecuona, Nazareth, Villa-Lobos, Chopin and Liszt. On Nov. 23 an unusual pairing of Joseph Petric on accordion and David Mott on baritone saxophone perform an equally unusual selection of music: “Circles, Spirals and Spins” by David Mott and J. Petric and Mott’s “Adrift on the Edge of Seas” and “Mystery Theatre,” “Continuum” plus a world première of solo accordion. The society’s Music Room is located at 57 Young St., Waterloo.
