Titans bolster front court

The expansion KitchenerWaterloo Titans have signed their first forward, National Basketball League of Canada veteran, Jermaine Dailey.

The six-foot-eight power forward from Millington, Tenn. most recently played pro in Mexico. Before that, he split his two years in the NBL with the Moncton Miracles, the Halifax Rainmen and the Saint John Mill Rats.

Dailey’s arrival in Kitchener reunites him with one of his former coaches in Moncton, Serge Langis, now head coach of the Titans.

“(Dailey) was a very dependable frontcourt player for us,” Langis said in a release. “He’s a very agile and long power forward which is important on the defensive side of things.

“The way he battled inside left a lasting impression on me.”

While in Mexico, with the Santos de San Luis Potosi, Dailey averaged nearly nine points per game, with 7.6 rebounds a game. He recorded a 49 per cent field goal shooting average in 19 outings.

Dailey joins the club’s previous signees, all of them guards: James Justice, a former college dunk champ from Memphis, Tenn.; Toronto brothers Tramar and Tramique Sutherland; and Adam Blazek of Erie, Pa.

The Titans’ training camp opens in December in advance of the NBL’s Boxing Day tipoff.
