$10.5M Khadr settlement is disgraceful

-

Re: Khadr opens up on payment from his fight with Ottawa — July 8

So, Omar Khadr gets $10.5 million because, according to Justin Trudeau, the poor dear wasn’t properly dealt with under the Canadian constitution. We should all be so fortunate.

Inasmuch as I would never, ever hope that Khadr would have murdered a Canadian, as opposed to the American that he did kill, I wonder how Trudeau might have found a way to explain this egregious, disgraceful settlement to the Canadian populace were that the actual case.

This has nothing to do with party politics, nothing to do with party lines or philosophy — this is just a simple disgrace, an affront to every Canadian citizen and a particular affront to anyone who has ever served this nation as a member of our armed forces. This is a negotiated settlement, not a Supreme Courtordered one, announced when Trudeau was conveniently out of the country. And if, as Trudeau suggests, the deal was made solely because Khadr’s charter rights were violated, then surely every adult person of colour caught up in a police “carding” sweep could surely claim a similar charter violation. And what would Trudeau suggest that might be worth?

Please consider this: This misguided, pathetic human being, the product of a disgraceful, terrorism-oriented family, has just been paid $10.5 million for his crimes against our society, our way of life, our belief system. This would have been so much cleaner had the American soldiers killed him upon first engagement instead of saving his life — the $10.5 million could have been spent so much more productively.
