Volunteer program developer needed: Waterloo Regional Block Parents are building a new and exciting Walking School Bus program that encourages children to be healthy, fit, active and safe. This program will provide safety education to our region’s children, as well as a new active transportation and healthy living element. This position requires attendance at monthly board meetings (last Tuesday of every month from 7 to 9 p.m.), Active and Safe Routes to School meetings (first Monday of the month from 1 to 3 p.m.), vehicle access, daytime availability, and commitment to creating and attending events that promote the Walking School Bus program. If you enjoy engaging with children, ages 2 to 12 years old, in summer activities, we have just the thing for you. Carizon Family & Children’s Services is looking for a Summer Youth Program volunteer to assist staff over at the Paulander Community Centre in Kitchener on Mondays and Wednesdays. Welcome newcomer families to Reception House as a Refugee Reception Centre Host. Volunteer at our temporary housing site with families who are in their first month of settlement in Canada. Play with children, go to stores and bus terminal with clients, support art programs, provide child care during orientations, help with housework, cleaning and gardening, administration, move-outs, walk clients to appointments, and practise English with families.
