Second suspect charged in suspicious death of Kitchener man
WATERLOO REGION — A second person has been charged as police investigate the suspicious death of Christopher Deweese, 32, a Kitchener man whose body was found in a farmer’s field last month.
Jason Cesar, 44, of Kitchener has been charged with committing an indignity to a body, police said on Thursday.
Desiree McNeill, 29, of Cambridge was charged late last month with the same crime. Last week she was convicted on unrelated charges of possessing heroin and methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking. Sentencing on those charges is expected in September.
In addition to the indignity charge, Cesar also faces a charge of breaching probation. Court documents show that in March he was found guilty in Kitchener court of possessing a controlled substance and was put on probation for a year. He was found guilty of the same charge in Brampton in 2001.
Cesar’s Facebook profile says he attended St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School in Cambridge and studied aircraft assembly at Centennial College in Toronto.
Wearing a black T-shirt, jeans and handcuffs, Cesar made a brief appearance in a Kitchener courtroom on Thursday. He will return to court on Tuesday for a bail hearing.
Deweese’s body was found July 12 in the area of Old Beverly Road (Regional Road 97) and Village Road in North Dumfries Township. An autopsy was held. Investigators are waiting for toxicology results to try to determine the cause of death. A meth possession charge Deweese faced was not resolved before his death.
Police have determined that he did not die where he was found. His death is considered suspicious.
Police continue to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call Waterloo Regional Police at 519-650-8500, ext. 8660, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
