Hospice of Waterloo Region is a charitable organization whose specially trained volunteers help people affected by life-threatening illness prepare for and cope with death by providing compassionate presence and practical support. Hospice is seeking client support volunteers to provide support to individuals living with life-threatening illness, in the Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo communities. We need volunteers willing to drive clients to medical appointments and male individuals to volunteer. The time commitment for this role is two to four hours per week and all volunteers must take part in the 33-hour mandatory training; the next course will take place in autumn 2017. Nutrition for Learning is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to assist in its warehouse. Volunteers will be required to track inventory, organize and package skids for delivery to programs throughout the region. You will be required to do some lifting and bending so you should be able to lift up to 20 pounds. Volunteers are required for Tuesday and Friday mornings from about 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., but this may vary depending on the volume of food orders to be prepared. Volunteers are needed to support group activities and events at Luther Village on the Park. As a volunteer you will enjoy a friendly atmosphere while providing an important service and making a real difference in our residents’ lives. Volunteers should be friendly and outgoing with good communication skills, English proficiency, and the ability to work independently.
