Community of the Week Bayfield Mews

- BY JANE PINZHOFFER FOR THE RECORD

Whether you’re an empty nester living in a home that’s too big and too much work, a snowbird looking for peace of mind that everything is taken care of at home while you’re away, or anyone over the age of 55 who wants a carefree, stress-free lifestyle in a community of like-minded neighbours, then Bayfield Mews’ brand new townhomes might be just what you’re looking for.

Set in the picturesque heritage village of Bayfield located on the sandy shores of Lake Huron, this popular tourist destination is known for its elegant art galleries, award-winning fine dining, and one-of-a-kind boutique shops all within walking distance of the Mews. The main beach is located next to a marina where you can stroll along the pier or take in a magnificent sunset over Lake Huron. Live theatre is close by, as are 7 golf courses, with hiking, biking, sailing, and cross-country skiing all popular pursuits. Doctors and other medical services are available locally and there are two hospitals within a 20 minute drive. Highway 21 is nearby, Kitchener-Waterloo is a 1.5 hour drive and Stratford and London are both just one hour away.

This is the second and final phase and the last opportunity to live in this vibrant, master-planned, over-55 community surrounded by farms and forested walking trails. There are prime lots backing onto picturesque bush trails as well as some with pond views available. “Our first phase of construction, which was 39 homes, was completed at the beginning of this year. We will be starting the second phase which will include 4 blocks of 4 homes, giving us an additional 16 homes. We are currently taking reservations and these homes will be ready for 2018 occupancy,” says John Elmslie, President of Bayfield Mews.

An activity centre will also be built during this phase. This large room with a stage is set to be the Mews social hub and will be able to be divided into smaller spaces to accommodate more than one group at a time. It will feature a lounge area, a café, an exercise area, and a large TV for sporting events. Bayfield Mews offers a variety of social activities and groups, from gardening and bridge to photography and pole walking.

There are four different 2-bedroom-plus-den models to choose from and each can be adapted to suit the lot of your choice. The Aspen is 1,295 square feet priced at $366,400; the Birch 1,355 square feet priced at $381,900; the Cottonwood, 1,482 square feet priced at $411,900, and the Maple, 1,620 square feet priced at $451,900. All pricing includes HST and an additional $5,000 is added for end units. Monthly occupancy fees are estimated at $240 and include all exterior cleaning and maintenance as well as checking and servicing heating and air conditioning systems twice a year, all part of making life at the Mews more enjoyable at no extra cost to the homeowner.

All of the townhome designs feature one floor with no steps and a modern open concept layout in the living/dining room. Valance lighting and a convenient serving island in the kitchen, a full width mirror over the vanity and acrylic shower surround with a seat in the large bathroom, in-floor heating, air conditioning, a laundry room/closet, a separate guest washroom, an attached garage, and a walkout to a spacious terrace as standard in every design. You will have your choice of interior finishes including, paint, flooring, cabinets, and fixtures.
