Laval’s McGee suspended
MONTREAL — A Laval University football player who injured an opponent with a hit to the head has been suspended. But it was not the one who hit Concordia Stingers quarterback Trenton Miller. Defensive back Kevin McGee was suspended one game for a hit that flattened receiver James Tyrrell late in Laval’s 12-8 home victory last week. A hit by defensive back Gabriel Ouellet that rattled Miller was left unpunished. Laval issued a statement saying it would not appeal the decision made by the FSEQ, the body that oversees high school, college and university football in Quebec. A video pleading for action to be taken on hits to the head was posted on social media by Miller this week and has had more than 55,000 viewers. Miller asked the RSEQ to make eliminating head hits a priority.
