Magnet Forensics buys case management specialist

WATERLOO — A Waterloo technology firm that develops software for finding digital evidence buried in computer hard drives has acquired a U.S. company with a platform for managing digital and laboratory evidence. Magnet Forensics has purchased Virginia-based Sentinel Data, which was founded by two Virginia State Police officers. Sentinel’s product, called Atlas, will be added to the suite of products offered by Magnet. Magnet’s customers include police department­s, security services, corporatio­ns and consultant­s. The company was founded in 2011 by Jad Saliba, a former Waterloo Regional Police officer who developed software called Internet Evidence Finder to help gather online evidence in child exploitati­ons cases.
