CAMBRIDGE — This Lone Wolf is expanding its territory.

Lone Wolf Technologies, a Cambridge-based company that develops software for the residential real estate industry, has acquired Instanet Solutions, a London firm working within the same field.

Lone Wolf specializes in back office software — or the tools a brokerage is using behind the scenes to manage a deal, explained Warren Dow, the company’s director of industry relations — and Instanet provides transaction management, electronic forms and e-signature products.

“We plan to continue to sell the Instanet solution as a standalone tool that is already successful,” Dow said.

“We also plan on offering an integrated solution.”

Ultimately, Lone Wolf wants to provide an end-to-end, lead-toclose software solution for real estate brokerages, Dow said. Acquiring Instanet “really puts us light years ahead of where we were in our own development,” he said.

About 23 Instanet employees will join the Lone Wolf pack, which numbers approximately 275. The London office will be maintained.

“We are thrilled to join an amazing technology provider who, like us, has a long history of providing best-in-class solutions to the real estate industry,” Instanet Solutions founder Martin Scrocchi said in a news release.

Founded in 1990, Lone Wolf is headquartered in Cambridge, with offices in Dallas, Langley, B.C., and Las Vegas. The company recently opened a new centre of excellence in Dallas, and is actively growing there and in Cambridge, Dow said.

Lone Wolf ’s products are used in more than 10,000 real estate offices across North America; Instanet Solutions has more than 500,000 licensed, paid user accounts for its line of products.

Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.

“Our clients are the ones that are going to benefit the most from our combined resources,” Dow said. “I’m really excited to see what we can do with the resources of both of our companies combined.”
