WATERLOO REGION — Get out of the house this weekend and attend a free skate, karate class, or watch a movie.

There’s a lot to do in the region this weekend, here’s the shortlist:

Enjoy a free skate organized at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex on Saturday. Prior to the free skate, which has been organized by Laurier’s Athletic Centre, the Laurier’s men’s varsity team will hit the ice for a game. And, following the free skate, the varsity women’s team will play. In between the games the athletes will be available for autograph signing. While the public skate is free, the games require admission.

Love comic books or sports cards? Then this show is for you. The Cambridge Card and Comic Show on Saturday features 25 vendors who buy, trade or sell merchandise including baseball, basketball, football and hockey cards as well as memorabilia such as autographed photos and pucks, new and worn jerseys, antiques, retro toys, and even trading cards unrelated to sports. Admission and parking to the show at the Hespeler Arena are free.

Take the whole family out to a free karate class. On Saturday, PRO Martial Arts Waterloo is hosting its semi-annual Karate and Bullying Prevention open house. The day will include karate classes, an antibullying class, crafts, face painting and more. To reserve a spot, register online at www.pmawat.eventbrite.ca

If you’re looking for a relaxing Sunday with the kids, catch a free flick at the Kitchener Public Library. Featured this week is the Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul. The 2017 release follows the Heffley family on a road trip as they head to Meemaw’s 90th birthday. There’s a twist as the trip doesn’t exactly go as planned.
