WATERLOO REGION — Learn to make vegetable kraut, shop at a winter market or catch a Canadian documentary this weekend.

There’s a lot to do in the region this weekend, here’s the shortlist:

Starting this weekend, the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery will host free Sunday screenings throughout February. All the films are Canadian documentaries relating to the current exhibitions at the gallery. They all represent themes of hospitality and home. The first documentary, Where I Belong, will play this Sunday afternoon. The 2007 film is about Arinze Eze who was born in Canada but raised in Nigeria. Eze, an engineer, returns to Canada after 20 years away, switches careers and falls in love with a Canadian. His parents come for a visit to see him in his new life.

Stay warm indoors at the Waterloo Winter Market at RIM Park. There will be about 100 vendors and artisans including wood workers, glass blowers, jewelry makers and more. Admission to the event is $3 per person but those 12 and under are free.

Learn how to use a three-dimensional printer at Idea Exchange in Cambridge. During a one-hour workshop, participants will learn how to convert computer files to 3D models using a Cubicon 3D printer Those who are interested in the free event are asked to bring their own USB stick or purchase one from the library. Those under 13 years of age must have a parent accompany them. To register for the class online visit: ideaexchange.org

If food is more your thing, learn to make veggie kraut and kimchi with Little City Farm.

The two-hour workshop will teach you how to preserve foods using a salt water brine. Together, the class will work on a large batch of root vegetable kraut made with herbs and spices. Every participant will get one litre to take home with them. There is a $45.20 fee and a few items participants should bring with them including a sterilized mason jar.
