Spicy dumplings make a quick and simple meal
This week’s recipe is super easy that you will be surprised how quickly you will have a meal on the table
In 20 minutes, your dumplings will be hot and ready.
The store-bought dumplings can be found in the freezer section of most well-stocked grocery stores. The President’s Choice brand at Zehrs makes dumplings, also referred to as potstickers.
I purchased by Gyoza Japanese dumplings in the freezer section at Costco.
The chicken and ginger dumplings are aromatic and can be served as an appetizer or meal. I’ve done both.
The dumplings are made of wheat flour and stuffed with a meat or vegetable filling. They can be pan-fried, steamed or boiled.
You can serve the dumplings with rice to complete your meal or choose a salad.
Pan-fried Gyoza Dumplings with Spinach
18 frozen dumplings
60 mL (quarter cup) vegetable oil
Half a Knorr chicken cube 500 mL (2 cups) spinach leaves, stems removed
30 mL (2 tablespoons) soy sauce 15 mL (1 tablespoon) sesame oil 15 mL (1 tablespoon) sweet chili sauce
7 mL (half a tablespoon) Sriracha hot sauce Place the dumplings in a colander and run water through them so that the frozen dumplings are detached from each other.
In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil.
Add the dumplings and fry until golden. Be sure to cover the pan with a lid. Turn over the fry on the other side. Add the Knorr cube, spinach leaves, soy sauce and sesame oil. Place the lid on the pan and let simmer until the spinach is wilted.
Add the sweet chili sauce and Sriracha.
Stir and turn off the stove and let sit covered.
