TORONTO AUTO SHOW

-

Honda and Chrysler emerged as kings of the Toronto Auto Show, earning top marks as car and SUV of the year.

Honda and Chrysler both received top honours in their categories at the Canadian Car of the Year awards which annually kick off the Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto.

The 2018 Honda Accord was named Car of the Year and the Chrysler Pacifica was named as Utility Vehicle of the Year by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC).

For Honda it was actually a double win as the previous Accord took the same award in 2013.

Working up to the awards is a year long practice with AJAC voting members testing a variety of cars and trucks culminating in October at the annual “Test Fest” where vehicles are judged back-to-back.

“We’re honoured and humbled to receive this recognition from a group of respected automotive journalists in Canada,” said Jean Marc Leclerc, senior vice-president of Sales and Marketing at Honda Canada.

For Chrysler it was the first time the hybrid version of the Pacifica was allowed to compete.

“There’s an extra air of significance, when one of our homegrown products wins a domestic award,” said Reid Bigland, president and CEO, FCA Canada.

The finalists were selected from 14 subcategories and then whittled down to three contenders in the top two categories.
