Stop blaming the Conservatives
Re: Thinking Ford? Cast your mind back to Walkerton — May 14
Geoffrey Stevens warns future conservative voters of the role played by the Mike Harris government in the tragic Walkerton water-contamination crisis in May 2000.
Unfortunately, Mr. Stevens conveniently failed to mention the significant role the Koebel brothers also played in this tragedy. These two brothers were hired by the town of Walkerton to monitor their drinking water, but failed to take the appropriate measures to warn the public when they found the water was contaminated at that time.
Mr. Stevens also blames the current state of our health-care system on cutbacks made by the Conservatives in the 1990s.
His preferred party of choice, the Liberals, have been in power for 16 years now and have had plenty of time to correct any deficiencies in the health-care system, but according to the many unhappy doctors, nurses and other health-care providers, they have still failed to do so.
It is time for Liberal supporters like Stevens to stop blaming the previous Conservative government for their current woes and start looking at their own track record.
