LINK is hosting the annual Picnic Festival on Aug. 25 and 26 at Victoria Park, Kitchener. If you are community-minded, mature and friendly, and you want to give back to the community and have fun, LINK has a variety of positions ranging from our Children’s Village co-ordinator to leading and supporting the setup and take-down of the event. The second annual Hat Walk at Cambridge Rotary Ribfest, in support of the Child Witness Centre, will be happening on Aug. 12. We need volunteer ambassador­s to help staff “The Hat Shack” by greeting Ribfest attendees, providing informatio­n about the Hat Walk, registerin­g walkers, accepting donations and helping create funky and fabulous hats. No creative skill is needed — just have fun! If you enjoy gardening, the Galt Horticultu­ral Society is looking for garden helper volunteers for the Ferguson cottage property located in downtown Galt, Cambridge. This position requires bending and lifting (up to 20 pounds), moving and planting of plants, and removing garbage from the grounds. Garden helpers receive instructio­n on the proper use of gardening tools. Shifts are available from July 16 to Sept. 10. Volunteers must be 16 or older to apply.
