What’s open, what’s closed for the long weekend

There’s lots open, but some things are closed or have altered schedules, so check our list of local services

WATERLOO REGION — You’ll want to get out and enjoy the ideal summer weather during the civic long weekend, but here’s a list of what’s open and closed around the region.

• The Region of Waterloo customer service line is open 24/7 (519-575-4400) as well as Grand River Transit customer service (519-585-7555)

• LCBO and Beer Store locations will be open Saturday and Sunday, with some remaining open on Monday, Aug. 6, so check your local store

• Grand River Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule on the holiday Monday

• The Charles Street Terminal will be open from 8:10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday, with ticket sales ending at 6:30 p.m.

• The Ainslie Street Terminal will be open from 7:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. with ticket sales from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (the station will however be closed from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.)

• The Employment Resource Centres at 99 Regina St., 150 Main St. and 235 King St. will be open regular hours Monday

• Waterloo Region Museum and Doon Heritage Village will be open Monday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Schneider Haus National Historic Site will be open Monday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. — roll up your sleeves and learn how the Schneiders made soap, did the washing, ironing and cleaning, all without modern appliances.

• McDougall Cottage Historic Site will be closed Monday, but is open Wednesday to Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.

• Region of Waterloo Internatio­nal Airport is open

• There is regular curbside waste collection on Monday, Aug. 6 — please have items out by 7 a.m.

• Cambridge and Waterloo waste sites are closed for residentia­l drop-off on Monday

• All regional administra­tive offices (99 Regina St., 150 Frederick St., 150 Main St., airport administra­tive offices) will be closed Monday

• All Region of Waterloo Library branches, Waterloo Public Library branches, Kitchener Public Library branches and Cambridge Idea Exchange branches are closed Monday

• Region of Waterloo Children’s Centres are closed until Aug. 10

• Sunnyside Home Reception and Administra­tion is closed Monday

• Sunnyside Wellness Centre is closed Monday

• Alzheimer Day Program Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge is closed Monday.
