Q. What services do you provide?
A. I provide individual and family counselling support. I specialize in addiction and trauma therapy. I offer a group program for parents of substance users called the, “Parent Support Program.” I also provide clinical consultation services to other professionals.
Q. What is your background?
A. I have worked as a clinician for the past 23 years in residential and community-based settings. I have a masters of social work degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and I am certified to administer EMDR Therapy from the Humanitarian Assistance Program in Connecticut. I am registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, and the Ontario College of Social Workers.
Q. Why did you start your own business?
A. When the agency where I was employed closed, I decided to open my own practice. My goal is to provide a space that is welcoming and supports working at a pace that is comfortable for the client.
Q. What is the story behind the name Nith River Counselling?
A. My family has many fond memories of enjoying walks together and observing the beauty of nature along the Nith River. A common goal of counselling is to create change and the Nith River is always changing in some way.
Q. What is the biggest challenge you face in running your business? A. Marketing. It’s very time consuming. I would much rather be spending my time helping people.
