WATERLOO REGION — This weekend, you can head out to Wellesley for the annual Apple Butter and Cheese Festival or check out a new nighttime event in Waterloo.

There’s a lot to do in the region this weekend. Here’s the shortlist:

It’s that time of year — the annual Wellesley Apple Butter and Cheese Festival runs for a full day Saturday, kicking off with a pancake breakfast. The family-friendly event includes antique car and tractor displays, a mini tractor pull, cider mill tours and more. For a full schedule of events go to wellesleya­bcfestival.ca.

A new festival is coming to Waterloo. The nighttime Lumen Festival takes place at more than 25 locations in uptown Waterloo, with a focus on light, art and technology.

Artist Kid Koala will also be there with his Turntable Orchestra project, calling on people to help him make music.

Take a cemetery walking tour of Mount Hope in Kitchener.

The focus of the tour is “wives and daughters” and will explore the interestin­g lives of some of the cemetery’s lesser known figures.

Head over to the first Downtown Galt Potters’ Market to check out works by potters from Southweste­rn Ontario. There

will be live demonstrat­ions, activities for children of all ages, and prizes to be won.

It’s the 16th annual Caribbean Dreams Concert this weekend, which will showcase new and young artists at the Country Hills Community Centre.

Tickets are $10 per person and those 9 and younger can attend at no cost.
