Cook up a taste of 1914 at regional museum

The Food Bank of Waterloo Region has opportunit­ies for daytime volunteers to help sort perishable food, provide customer service, and drive or assist drivers. Volunteer once a week or more, if your schedule permits. If you would like to help distribute food to people who are dealing with unexpected life circumstan­ces, please contact volunteer@thefoodban­k.ca.

Help promote regular exercise among children by participat­ing in the Waterloo Region Walking School Bus program. The Waterloo Regional Block Parent Program, in partnershi­p with the Canadian Cancer Society, is seeking volunteer walk leaders to supervise children on the walk to school once a week. If you love baking, join the Waterloo Region Museum and learn about the traditiona­l foods and baking methods used in 1914. Baked food will be featured in their education programs and special events. All baking will be done in the industrial/food safe kitchen on site at Waterloo Region Museum. Volunteer opportunit­ies are in the mornings or afternoons, Monday to Friday, and continue until mid-December.
