KITCHENER — A 15-year-old boy facing a murder charge showed no emotion as he made his first appearance in court on Tuesday.

The Kitchener teen, who can’t be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is the fourth person charged in the death of Shaun Yorke.

He was arrested on Monday and charged with first-degree murder, robbery with a restricted firearm and forcible confinement.

Wearing a black short-sleeve shirt and black pants as he stood handcuffed in the prisoner’s box, the teen looked mostly straight ahead with no expression.

He gave his name but said little else during the 15-minute appearance.

The teen was ordered to have no contact with six named people. A justice of the peace asked him if he understands the nocontact order. “Yeah,” he said.

He was ordered held in custody and will return to court on Nov. 7.

“Keep your head up,” an unidentified woman in the body of the courtroom told him as he was taken away.

Yorke, 45, was found dead of a gunshot wound inside his townhouse at 150 Elm Ridge Dr. in Kitchener on July 8.

Three other Kitchener residents are charged with firstdegree murder, robbery with a restricted firearm and forcible confinement in Yorke’s death: Mowafag Saboon, 24, Kenneth Morrison, 27, and a 17-year-old who can’t be named.

They have appeared in court and will return this week.

Police said they do not anticipate more arrests.
