• Hospice of Waterloo Region is seeking client support volunteers to help individuals affected by life-threatening illness, their caregivers and the bereaved by providing emotional, social and practical support. They are in need of volunteers in Cambridge, Kitchener, and Waterloo who would be willing to visit clients in the client’s home. The time commitment for this role is two to four hours per week and all volunteers take part in 35-hour mandatory training. The next training course will take place in Winter 2019. Daytime availability is preferred. For more information, contact Alex at alex@hospicewaterloo.ca or 519-743-4114 ext. 113.
• Idea Exchange is looking for volunteers to provide companionship and library materials to people who are homebound due to age or illness. In a monthly visit, visiting library service volunteers take books, music, and conversation to the homes or retirement residence of folks who can’t get in to select their own materials. If you are comfortable working with seniors and people who are ill, love reading, have a familiarity with a wide variety of authors, and have access to transportation, this volunteer position offers a rewarding way to give back.
