Dagmawit Worku

Dagmawit Worku is a dedicated student who has worked diligently to create more inclusive spaces at her school. During her high school career, she completed the Internatio­nal Baccalaure­ate program while devoting much of her time to extracurri­culars. Her passion for social justice is demonstrat­ed in her leadership as co-president of the Black Student Union. During her time at Cameron Heights she co-founded the AfroFusion Dance Team and was heavily involved in Student Council as the arts representa­tive. Her love for the arts also led to her presidency of the school’s Arts Council. Her various passions have led her to pursuing Architectu­ral Engineerin­g at the University of Waterloo, hoping to continue her advocacy work. Parents: Emebet Beyene and Mequanent Worku

Jeremiah Leiyu

Jeremiah Leiyu is a positive and outgoing student who always strives to enhance the student experience of his peers. Throughout high school, Jeremiah has excelled in athletics. Cross Country, Soccer, Basketball and Track & Field are his passion. In every tryout, practice, and game Jeremiah gives 100%. He is a team player and a leader in every way. Jeremiah extends his leadership further into the school community through his dedication to clubs and activities. He is a valued member of Student Council, Athletic Council, and Link Crew. He also holds a spot at the executive group of the Black Student Union. In September, Jeremiah will be attending the University of Waterloo to study Honours Arts Co-op.
