If Prime Ministers Path statues bother you, then don’t go to see them

-

I was glad when Wilmot Township agreed to have the statues of our prime ministers placed at Castle Kilbride. They were leaders of our country and a big part of the history of our nation. I agree that not all the things they did were good. However, history is not just the good things that were done and not just the things you want to hear. We need to look back and learn from the mistakes of others to make things better. Vandalism, and removing statues because you don’t like what they represent, are wrong.

Perhaps if we had a short statement by each statue about what these people represent, both good and bad, it would help people to better understand.

I enjoy seeing the statues in Baden and hope we will see more in the future. It is great to be able to put a face to a name on a page in a history book.

There are very few things that everyone enjoys. Just because one person doesn’t like something does not mean that others should be deprived of enjoying it. If it bothers you, don’t go there.

My hat is off to the township of Wilmot and I hope they consider everyone in their deliberations.
