Q1— Neither vulnerable, as South, you hold:
Pass ?
What call would you make?
A— Partner’s sequence, balancing double followed by a notrump bid, shows 15-17. He might have bid 3NT with 17 so your decision is close. The 10 of diamonds makes this worth 3NT.
Q2— North-South vulnerable, as South, you hold:
What call would you make? A— 2NT is a slight overbid and 3C a slight underbid. We like 3C, as you can still get to no-trump when that is right. If you belong in clubs, however, you must raise now.
Q3— East-West vulnerable, as South, you hold:
*Negative What call would you make? A— The club values are probably wasted, but two extra trumps give us courage. Bid 4S.
Q4— Both vulnerable, as South, you hold:
What call would you make? A— Partner would have bid a major over the double if he had one. He must have a four-card suit somewhere, and that means a good fit for you. Bid 3C.
