Sour Cream Ice Cream
Sour cream adds tang and a smooth texture to ice cream; it’s a particularly tasty accompaniment to sweet fruit pies, cobblers and crisps. Use brown sugar for a more caramelly flavour.
2 cups sour cream
(not low-fat or fat-free)
1 cup half and half
½ cup whipping cream
¾ cup sugar
1 tbsp lemon juice
2 tsp vanilla
Pinch salt
In a large bowl, whisk together sour cream, half and half, cream, sugar, lemon juice, vanilla and salt. Freeze in your ice cream machine according to manufacturer’s instructions. Makes about ¼ cups.
