“Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wildness is a necessity.”

— John Muir, Our National Parks

Welcome to our winter 2016 issue. We have some great adventures in store for you as well as valuable information to complement your visit.

As Whistlerites, we are very fortunate to live here, though admittedly, we sometimes forget. Life gets so busy: working long hours or taking work home, stressed with everyday life, or too “connected” in our digital lives– there definitely is not a shortage of distractions. When surrounded by such breathtaking scenery every day it is astounding how often we take it for granted and forget to take time out to enjoy the natural wonders that are right here at our doorstep.

Next time you find yourself in this situation, turn off the computer, put down the phone and go outside. Take a deep breath of our invigorating fresh mountain air and look around you. In Whistler, or anywhere in Sea to Sky, you are likely to be in view of a snow-capped mountain, an impressive glacier, a majestic forest, a meandering stream, a serene lake or a formidable river. Our region is undeniably one of the country’s most beautiful places, so take the time to soak it all in. The sheer magnificence of your view is sure to take your mind off all those pending to-dos and bring you some long-overdue peace.

As a visitor, perhaps you have come here to find that calm also. We invite you to make the most of your time here and hope that we have inspired you to experience some of the many unique adventures that await you … but also encourage you to take the time to relax, unplug and absorb some of the life-renewing energy that our area offers.

It is our sincere pleasure to share our communities with you, and know that when you leave you already will be planning your next visit to this spectacular place that we call home!

Thank you for sharing this issue with us. We hope you appreciate the places it takes you.

Enjoy!
