Pass the Krill

-

Weighing in at over 181 tonnes, you’d think the Blue Whale would gobble up all kinds of prey — both big and small. Nope! It really, really likes to eat tiny krill. Every day, the Blue Whale needs to eat about 40 million krill to satisfy its rumbling tummy. With its jaws open wide, the Blue Whale will swallow a school of krill in a single mouthful. When it closes its mouth, it pushes the water out with its tongue but traps the krill in its mouth. Bon appetit!
