In At­lantic Cana­dian wa­ters, Leatherback Sea Tur­tles usu­ally feed on Lion’s Mane Jel­ly­fish and Moon Jel­ly­fish. Leatherbacks eat so much while they are here that they weigh about 33 per cent more in Cana­dian wa­ters than they do when they reach their nest­ing beaches far­ther south. The pleated shape of the Leatherback’s cara­pace, with its ridges and troughs, gives the tur­tles room to ex­pand. Sadly, Leatherbacks will eat any­thing if it looks like a jel­ly­fish — this might ex­plain why Leatherbacks swal­low things like plas­tic bags and de­flated bal­loons. Yuck!a
