Citizens need to help city trap rats

-

Re: Remington Park rat infestation has residents worried, by Dalson Chen, Sept. 28.

You can go to your vet and have your dog vaccinated to protect them. But this doesn’t solve the rat problem in Remington Park and elsewhere in Windsor. You cannot sit back and expect the City of Windsor to take care of the rodent infestation. That would probably take a workforce larger than the public works department alone. I will not use poisons because I cannot control the outcome. For example, a pet might find the dead rat that has been contaminated, and eat it. I put out eight snap traps at night and collect them in the mornings so the birds don’t fall prey to them.

Believe it or not, there are times I will get five in a night. I have been doing this for about three years now and when I reached 500, I quit counting. If more people out there would do the same we might get this under control. MARK ROBINET, Windsor
